A Change of Seasons

Drat! It must be expected. Last week was warm and balmy, and this morning, we have snow. The moisture is much appreciated, but ...where did fall, uhhh summer go? I wasn’t looking carefully enough, and now, both seasons are gone! It seems I am frequently saying, “I thought I had more time.”

When starting this Blog, I promised I would post something every week, but life kinda got in the way. All my projects seem to be at a standstill, with one pesky problem or another staring me in the face, looking much more difficult than they really are, so I am posting this lovely little quilt I made some time ago. This is a Drunkard’s Path version, made with straight pieces, rather than curves. I keep saying I’m going to do another, only larger ... one of these days. This is from a beautiful book by quilter/author Mary Sue Suit, who just happens to be from our area and in our quilt guild. After looking at her lovely patterns, you can tell she loves geometry.

My label with crooked footprints

You may notice all the ugly underlines that have mysteriously appeared on my blog, and on some others also. I’ve spent too many hours trying to figure how to delete them. From what I can piece together following their unexpected and unwanted appearance, something has changed either in Blogger or Google – I have a feeling it has something to do with CSS – or ‘something Style Sheets.’ Naturally I don’t know what I’m talking about, but that’s as close as I’ve come to solving the mystery. Gosh, I barely learned HTML, and now there’s something else to learn.

  1. Oohh that is a lovely quilt - I love the colours. But I find it interesting that it isn't curved. I think I will have to watch out for this book.

  2. Ohhh -- That snow is soo pretty! We're still hanging at around 80 degrees, and I'd love to have some snow. Or even just a cool day!
Your yard looks like a Christmas card!

  5. I love looking at the snow in YOUR yard. ::::grin::::: Anytime you get tired of it...we have a guest room with its own bath! I love your blue quilt. I'm SUCH a blue girl. My mom complained that I was even when I was little and she wanted to dress me in pink. I cannot see any underlined words in your blog. Think its just when you type up your posts?

  6. Wow! Finally got over to here and will be back. Do you know what I love about my intensive and educational week of being a blogger? There are other people out there just like me. They may not be the same age, etc. etc but they make quilts, get excited by changing seasons, take in the little things and like to share. Cool! Cheers for now. (Ps love that Drunkard's path, and the red, black, white.

  8. I SO want to live in a cold climate. That pine tree with the snow on it looks so beautiful and serene. I don't see any funny lines either - all looks good to me.

  10. The snow is so pretty! I like looking at pictures of snow, or looking at it out of a window, but being in the cold doesn't thrill me. That is a really pretty quilt too. I really like the layout. I wouldn't mind doing a curved drunkard's path in that setting.

  12. LOVE your quilt. Before I read your story I assumed you took the ispritation for your fabric choices from the picture of the snowy tree. The comparison is amazing.

  13. Ops! Should have checked my spelling. As you know ispritation should be inspiration.
