Another one bites the dust!

This one is DONE! Well, it needs a label, and one corner needs about 15 quilting stitches. Tomorrow is Quilt Guild Day and it's going to be "Showed and Telled".

Here's a close up (wow, REALLY close up), closer than I'd like, of the quilting. It's doesn't look so great from here close up. Oh well, the eye Dr. said I need cataract surgery, so THAT's an excellent excuse for not good stitches! BTW, I'm going to put THAT off for ... a while, anyway.

(Blogger is not playing well today - hope this makes it!)

  1. I love it, and those stitches look good to me! Don't put off the surgery, my dad recently had a cataract removed, and cannot believe the difference. He can't wait for them to do the other eye.

  8. I think it looks great Elaine, and you know any little variation only proves it's hand quilted, not done by machine or robot *VBS* Such is life. Big hugs, Finn

  9. Great quilt and your eyes must be better than mine. I don't see the mistakes you do. It will be well loved at your guild.

  11. Your stitches are good, Elaine. Quit putting yourself down. I like the way you quilted the spools. My mom put off cataract surgery and then it was harder for them to get'ur done. My MIL has one and is putting if off but her doctor is telling her he will tell her when it is time to take care of it. Blessings.

  12. Good job! It looks great! And I think your hand-quilting is great! I can't even do it anymore, so I really treasure the quilts I hand-did. Just remember, "finished is BETTER than perfect!" *smile*

  13. Beautiful quilt! I love it. Would you share the block measurements with me? I am trying vallantly to use up older fabrics in my stash & I'm getting really tired of making string blocks. I'd love to do some spools.

I'm trying this blogging thing, too, but am a bit lost. I'll keep trying.

  17. Your Spools quilt is wonderful!!! Stitches look perfect to me... the other day I couldn't button a jacket because my fingers hurt too much) and my sweet Little Boy did them up for me - think I can teach him how to hand quilt my tops? I've always sent my tops out to be be machine quilted, but would love to try hand quilting at least 1 soon - there is just something extra special about those hand quilted stitches! Great job.

    Cheers!

  18. Your quilt is beautiful! What you consider to be "not good stitches" are way better than my "that looks great" stitches! Your border turned out great!
