The News - do you listen to all of it?

My last post made me so depressed, I deleted it (about greed, and selfishness at the top of our industrial economy).

Maybe I can get on with more positive things if I don't have to keep seeing it on my own blog for gosh sakes - my own blog usually gives me comfort - that WAS the point of having one.

DH says I need to know all that is going on in the world. On the contrary, I would just as soon keep my head under the quilts, and catch only the high points. Otherwise the joy of each is spoiled by the constant reminder.

Thank you all for your comments.

  1. I'm with you. My husband could watch news 24-7 but I prefer not to know when there is nothing to be done about the situation anyway.

  2. I'm with you girls. I just can't take anymore bad stuff. I'm very happy in my own little world and that's where I'm gonna be. Ursula

  3. I don't watch any news. I read some online and that is it. Sometimes I feel really out of it but...what am I to do about any of it anyway? God is in control!

  5. I prefer to avoid the news too - for the most part it just annoys me.

  6. I usually watch the news a lot, but after the election I am watching it less. My sister prefers to keep her head in the sand, however. Sunday the message was about fear and how it doesn't come from God. We do need to take care what we think about. All the negativity can get to you and that isn't good.

  7. I'm an intelligent woman with a couple of college degrees and professional work experience...but I rarely watch the news. If something really important happens my husband will know since he watches it multiple times during the day. All that negative "stuff" just makes me sad and feeling helpless and hopeless. I'd rather focus on more positive things. blessings, marlene

  8. Thank you. I was feeling so badly about myself because I just couldn't face the news every day. Glad to know others feel the same way. Yeah, I know it's lousy out there, I don't need to hear all the gory details every moment. Mom keeps up with the news and tells me way too many details (what is it about older ladies and CNN news 24-7? My mother-in-law was that way too.)

  9. Knowing we get a 'selected' version of the news, helps me to avoid it!
As long as we spread positive ripples in our little pond, what more can we do?
    Hugs, xx

  10. I am with you on hiding. Listening to the news just makes me frustrated and sad with a bit of anger. What ever happened with pulling ourselves up by the bootstraps and moving on with our lives.
