Forget? Did I forget something?

I am appalled with the suggestion that an educated, "most qualified for the job," experienced individual who could 'forget' to pay his taxes, would be considered for the most powerful AND INFLUENTIAL financial position in this country. This nation is in a dreadful financial crisis. What else might he 'forget'?

Is there even one employed person in the whole nation who is not aware of the obligation to pay their taxes?

Yesterday, I had such high hopes, but today, they are dashed. We just don't trust our government - THAT is our nation's problem.

  1. Our government, especially Congress, hasn't earned our trust. Just look at the debt they are about to pile on us and you can guarantee that it will be FULL of projects that have nothing to do with "economic stimulus".

  2. I have been guilty of underpaying taxes although I thought I was paying plenty. I was hired by a company who paid me as an independent contractor. I had my taxes prepared and paid. But was told on audit that any taxes not paid by my employer had to be paid by me. They had failed to pay long term disability, I was never asked a question about it, nor told, yet it was my fault that they didn't get paid. Taxes are tough to understand. That would a great job for congress to overhaul.

  3. I think when you work for the government you generally hire someone to do you taxes..or did he just forget to do that? He was too busy spending those high wages,,and enjoying vacation time.
...he probably doesn't wear socks that match...
..may he needs to learn to use a rotory cutter..so he can cut himself a few times to wake up to the real world.
    later..hugs..sew peacefully Deb};o

  4. He didn't forget, and he didn't really think he could use summer camp as a tax deduction. Scary, isn't it, that an educated man not only gets a free pass for cheating on his taxes, but he also gets a job overseeing the Treasury. Greed and corruption--the words that define the 21st century!

  5. This is why it matters who you vote for. People, I hate to tell ya, it's just going to get worse!

  6. Yup, I'm afraid that's what we are in for. Remember Hilary a few years back saying over and over "I don't recall" She's got a poor memory too and look where it got her. I'm afraid for where our country is going and a lot of the biggies are in positions appointed, not voted in. Prayer is in order, big time.

  7. Wow, I was beginning to think I was the only one not sucked into the propaganda. What a relief that there are some others out there that feel the same way I do. I am seriously worried for where this country is headed in the next 4 years.

  8. While I want to be positive... I need to be realistic and recognise that some of these guys aren't carreer politicians for nothing. On another note, Elaine...your practice "paisleys" or paisley flourishes are wonderful. I love doing those things. In borders or setting blocks or whatever. Lovely.

  11. Wow, how many of little faith. He's not GOD. He's inherited a huge mess, and so many think, in a blink of an eye, the economy should change over night?

    First of all, why Judge?

    Second of all,
If we all didn't live beyond our means, we wouldn't be in this situation, yet we all like to blame someone else for our messes.

He's been given the job to try to straighten out the greatest mess in the history of this country.

How many of you would like that job?

Oh yeah, that's right, everyone else thinks they know better. And, hmm, lets see, Lets all think we are better than everyone else...

Everyone needs to be humbled a little and take a deep breath and give the man a chance.

  12. I don't buy that someone in that position could "forget" either. I am hoping for the best, but I find it hard to have stars in my eyes.
