Orca Bay, "Nearly 4000", 3 Rows Completed

It's difficult to get a good photo of this wide project, but here's the best I can do.  And somewhere in this quilt is a small piece of fabric that Bonnie Hunter gave to me, when she was in Casper Wyoming, 3 years ago.  See Bonnie? I used it!  Thank you Vic, for your donations!  They're IN there!

DH is having a hard time "seeing" the pattern, even after I showed him the photo of the finished quilt from our instruction sheet.

I have soooo enjoyed seeing all the varieties and versions of HUNDREDS of other Orca Bay quilts - some are already finished and on the way to the long-armer!!!  And every one is just wonderful - some colors didn't end up like we thought, other colors took over, but each one is a beauty!  Thanks Bonnie for this delightful journey.

  2. it's gorgeous, Elaine. My DH can't see the pattern, either...oh well, it's like all complex things - takes some skill to appreciate !!! Good luck assembling the rest... it takes a while, doesn't it? I had to do some ripping... And my step 6 isn't yet finished, either...Kate

  4. Looking gorgeous! I've just started on Clue 7 pieces ... VERY slowly as I'm nervous about all the bias edges, but they seem to be coming out right :)

  5. They look beautiful. You can't go wrong if you stick with Bonnie's colors. I'm sure your husband will see it when it gets bigger, I have 9 rows done now and my DH can, or at least he claims he can, lol.

  11. What a huge job you've done! And it's gorgeous! I like your colors. I think my DH would have problems with "getting" this one too. It's so busy that a non-quilter might have trouble seeing the "trees" for the "forest", so to speak.

  13. Your blocks are gorgeous. I wondered how the quilt would look with the blue in the center of the star and used for the larger strings. I collected the clues for "later", but I've been cutting more strings and have started. Your quilt will be beautiful!

  14. I love how your Orca Bay is coming along. I saw a note about your homemade detergent on a quiltville post. Can you refer me to where it is on your blog?
    Thanks.

  15. I have 9 stars sewn together and it looks a lot better hanging on the design wall than trying to find the pattern up close. My DH likes it because it's so dark...guess that means he can use it and it won't show dirt!?
