Haste Makes Waste

While hurrying home after errands, a quilt presentation, library book review, K-Mart,  race home before the cable tech guy arrives, and deciding to NOT take a second to  put my camera safely into my big purse, I got out of the car with arms loaded, camera swinging on my arm by it's strap, walked through the garage door, slammed the garage door behind me  ....  on my camera.   DANGGGGG!   I no longer can VIEW anything except a cracked VIEW window.  The good part is that the photos are still there, and it still downloads.  I doubt if Kodak can fix the mess I made of my camera.  8-((   It might have been better if it had been completely trashed, not it's only partially trashed.  I can't review photos, but it DOES still take them and download them.

However, on a happier note, here is Jane's project - isn't this the cutest wall hanging?  The little dimensional triangles are all from scraps she already had.  She says a button will go in each center.  TOOOOO CUTE!

Here is Jody (Goddess's) Chunky Churndash - she is a prolific quilter, knitter, rancher, calver, babysitter to grandkids, friend, Postmaster, teacher, etc.  She can do anything - rumor has it that she doesn't sleep

Here is a label for our recent donated quilt.  Nancy donated his label, done on her embroidery machine.
And here is a final photo of the donated quilt.  We even made the newspaper today!!

Thank goodness - we can start working on something else, but I'd like to win this one.  We local quilter/gals  donated the top fabrics, and RSVP paid for the batting, backing, and quilting.  My friend Chell did the beautiful machine quilting.  One of our local quilters, Carol,  has won not just one, but TWO Raffle Quilts in about 2 years!!!  And with just one ticket per quilt!

I know I've shown this before, but wanted photos for posterity!  8-))

There  are minor issues with the ribbon corner but we managed to make it look right - only a quilter would ever know there are discrepancies.

Jody is known for her interesting flange type border treatment (below).  Some old person stuck their finger in the photo to show details.  Oh yeah, was that me???  LOL

  1. The worst part about your damaged camera is that Kodak doesn't make them any more. I recommend a Nikon cool pix. My point and shoot is a Kodak and I have been babying it.

  2. Ouch! Time for a new camera, I say. Or are you going to limp along with the partially functioning one?
    Cute little windmills.
I LOVE that raffle quilt. You need to find out Carol's secret. Does she talk in her sleep? : )

  3. That raffle quilt is gorgeous! I especially love the border. I'll have to do that.I'd love to buy a ticket AND win, but I live in Aust. The logistics of getting it here might be a bit too difficult.

  6. If you broke the LCD screen on your camera, it can be replaced. I bought the replacement screen for mine (for about $20) on eBay. The place I used offered to install it for free. I just bought the part and paid for shipping both ways. It was a whole lot cheaper than the $150 fee the camera store wanted. I don't remember the sellers name, but they were in the Chicago area. Hope that helps.

  7. I dropped my camera and totally shattered the LCD screen. They wanted $150 to repair it. We were visiting relatives and I mentioned it. My nephew is a geek. He said it was easy to replace the LCD screen. He did an Internet search and located the part number. He then found several on eBay. I paid less than $20 for the part, and the place I bought it from offered to replace the screen for free, if I sent them the camera and paid return postage. I don't remember who it was, but they were in the Chicago area. Turnaround was lightening fast. It's something I would definitely research, if I was you. Saved us a chunk of change!! Thanks for sharing your goodies with us. :-)

  8. Great quilt. I hope the org. Makes a lot of money from the quilt. I love the little pinwheels. Too cute. And, kudos for learning how to program your tech toys. You've got a VCR/DVD that makes a new DVD? That is too cool. Especially if you actually know how to use it!

  11. The guild quilt turned out awesome--now if you wouldn't have said something about the ribbon border I wouldn't be cross eyed trying to figure out what you were talking about. Laughed at your finger in the pic. Dropped camera--done that too. Glad to hear it still works even though the screen is gone.

  12. Hope you get to keep this quilt for your very own!. It's so beautiful!

Sad about the camera but you are getting it repaired? Good. I got mine repaired. It's a Canon Power shot S3IS, and old, but I love it.

  14. Oh that Scrappy Star quilt is such a beauty! Was it difficult to get all put together? I'd like to make one with my quilt group for a future raffle quilt... Any advice?
