Is this a little 'busy'?

While I LOVE to have a kid quilts include a lot of visual 'stuff', these blocks are just a teensy bit, 'over the top'! LOL I've made only half of the blocks, so I'll try to tame the other half with calmer strings.

Hopefully it will be finished in time to be included in the Linus Project, at the end of the month.

  1. Too funny -- I spent the morning working on a string quilt for Linus, too. I think they are busy, but not chaotic thanks to the common center string. I love the fabric you used for the anchoring string; so far I haven't ventured beyond a solid fabric for that, but you've inspired me!

  2. I don't kids know 'over the top' when it comes to quilts. Someone will be very happy with it.

  3. If it is for kids, I don't think it can be too busy. I like the blocks, they are bright and cheerful.

  4. I love your idea of using a fun print for the centre string. The whole thing looks good to me :)

  5. Just like I told my GF this past weekend, "Does it matter?" No, it will still make a lovely warm quilt & if it is for Linus, kids love to find "things" in quilts, so this is all the better!

  6. Adults always "see" things differently than kids! A child will love this. This week I decided to embroider a nose on a bear I made a long time ago that my son has gotten attached to - he was very upset! HIS Bella did not have an embroidered nose at all - we are back to the glued on nose template! LOL. So - keep going at it - I think it will be a winner!

    Cheers!

  10. I love the colors and kids love the little designs in fabrics. Remember Grandmas quilts with all the vintage busy fabrics? I loved looking at the fabrics when I was little. Eye candy!

  11. Agree about kids loving business. Still, I can see alternating these blocks with just blocks of one fun print or several different fun prints like maybe that paw print, for example. Would also make the project finish up faster:-)

  12. Ah, looking at these blocks again, i see that this probably wdn't be possible. The lighter areas already break up the busy-ness, though.
