These blocks are so bright and perky - better than the photo. I need 96 and as of a few minutes ago, I had 36. This is another example of a simple block that makes a dynamite pattern. Again, I'm using what I have with a few new FQs of red, and then my friend Jody (Goddess) donated some also. I stuck with really LIGHTs and really DARK. I have many in-between that are kinda 'spotty', and were not included.
Below is a possible border (BLAH BLAH), although it is REALLY graphic, isn't it? Many of the reds have bits of black in them.
I'll have a LOT of fabric left over.
Most of the pieces are already cut out into 2 and 1/2 inch squares, and I'm using up a Triangles on a Role for the HSTs. Each block only take less then 5 minutes to actually sew and press. The hardest part when making these blocks was deciding the pressing directions. It's difficult to decide when you don't yet know the setting, isn't it?
On a different subject -- Below is what my office desk looks like under the work area. I'm getting my new computer hooked up soon and hope this jumble of cables "goes away." This mess has become too much for me and I had to call for help. Something happens to my eyes when I see this collection - they just glaze over! Another photo of my finished Double Delight -- now named, "Twenty One O Two", (the # of pieces) just because I like to throw it on the rail and look at it from inside the house.
I am a quilter - a retired widow living in the Nebraska Panhandle. I am surrounded by beautiful semi-arid ranch country, and treeless hills and fields under incredibly wide blue skies, located far from the upheaval found often in large towns or cities. I am blessed to have delicious time to quilt and to appreciate my peaceful moments in an unpeaceful world.
Thought you were gonna say these blocks were blah and I was gonna disagree LOL Gonna be interesting to see the finished. I really like anything in red white & black. Carry on....
ReplyDeletePS: I enjoy seeing your Double Delight again and again.
ReplyDeleteLove your red and black quilt- I found on my quilt shopping journey yesterday some of the Jody Barros books and her square in a square ruler- It was fairly pricey - the book was 40 dollars ( Canadian/American there is not much difference right now) but it was the 10th anniversary book so it was the best deal as it had the most patterns and instructions. Now to just find time to make one or another of them. I so loved yours that you posted awhile back.

Oooh, I love the red and black blocks, but the potential border fabric doesn't appeal to my eye. I think it will draw too much attention.
ReplyDeletei love the color theme of your double delight. mine is still in process. your newest quilt is wonderful! b-w-r quilts are my favorite. i just bought some of the blah blah blah fabric at a show yesterday without an idea of how to use it. i think it would make a great border, if there was a break between your blocks and the print.
ReplyDeleteI love anything in black and white and red so this one really appeals to me.
ReplyDeleteThat tangle of cords looks very familiar. Let me know if you manage to solve that problem.
The red, white and black blocks are great - love them. Will make a striking quilt.
ReplyDeleteIt took me a while to realize your Blah Blah blocks are nine patches. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteHow did you get a picture under MY desk?
ReplyDeleteAnd, your quilt is not Blah.
Blah, blah, blah, you are so funny! What a cute and I have to say funny quilt! It is good to have fun with it! Your DD is great!
ReplyDeleteThe Double Delight is gorgeous. I really like the dark border... I'm always afraid to get too dark!
ReplyDeleteCute blah, blah, blah fabric! Go for it!!
Oh wow! Your DD is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteVery nice fabrics. It looks as if you had raided my own stash.
ReplyDeleteI love the white one with the paperclips!
What is up with the prayer chain you sent to me?
fabulous as always :)
ReplyDeleteWow, both of these quilts are spectacular! I've always loved the red black & white combo.
ReplyDeleteThese blocks are gorgeous Elaine! and a double bonus with the double delight quilt. That one is still on my to-do list.
