I have oooohed and aaaahed at many of Bonnie Hunter's scrappy designs, this time Jamestown Landing. I just LOVE all those little scrappy stars. So far, I've made about 690 HSTs, and need 840. Then I need to make a bunch of string squares, then sew a bunch of half stars, then ......! LOL I DID clean up a lot of little 2 1/2 inch pieces.
So far, so good! BTW, they don't go together this way, I just was playing.
Chiropractor says" don't sit and sew for long periods of time." OK -- good advice -- I won't, but then I sit at the computer instead. Duhhhhh!
I am a quilter - a retired widow living in the Nebraska Panhandle. I am surrounded by beautiful semi-arid ranch country, and treeless hills and fields under incredibly wide blue skies, located far from the upheaval found often in large towns or cities. I am blessed to have delicious time to quilt and to appreciate my peaceful moments in an unpeaceful world.
That is just the coolest pattern. I've never seen one that I didn't like. Eager to see yours!
ReplyDeleteThought of you today because I started machine quilting my spool quilt. Your machine quilting always looks fantastic.
I like that pattern, too.
ReplyDeleteBut the chiropractor didn't say anything about the computer, did he? Tell him he needs to be more specific! : )
Jamestown Landing is on my 'want to make list' too :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your scrappy quilts. As for the sitting/sewing/PC problem, I use Mozilla Firefox and it has a free alarm app that can be set to play a tune and pop up as reminder. For instance, mine is set to pop up every 50 minutes (as long as the PC is turned on). It plays a tune that I selected from my media files, and the words I put in say, "Get up and Move." It really helps. When I see/hear it, I get up and pace, jog, jumping jacks, wave my arms, whatever, just to keep the blood flowing. So thankful for this little alarm. Info at:

here's to being supple!
I love this quilt! You are a fantastic quilter, Elaine, so you probably know this, but when you go to assemble your Jamestown Landing, be very cognisant of the orientation of each of the components. It will save you lots of frustration and "undoing". I have had mine *almost* completed for over a year now and everytime I get it out I end up having to unsew something and just get so frustrated I just fold it back up and put it away. I have promised myself I will finish it this Spring.... we'll see. It really is one of my very favorite quilts...
ReplyDeleteThat's a sweet version you've got going there! I have been wanting to make a blue and white quilt of late. They are so irresistible!
ReplyDeleteBlues....I was thinking that greens would be nice in this patter, too....really like the look of that!!!
