Clean drawers and TWO Owlickens!

Can I get some whoot-whoots here?  ALL of my fabric drawers are neat and tidy, for now anyway.  In the process I pulled some that were unloved, packed them in bags for the next quilty gathering, and they can find new homes.  I LOVE pulling out the drawers and feeling good about this small accomplishment!!!

Below - just playing with making 9 inch blocks.

Yesterday at a funeral we sang a delightful old-timey song about coyotes and "Owlickens" -- a cross between owls and chickens!  (Something like that Jackalope critter in Douglas, Wyoming!)  That prompted me to look again at our pine tree today to see if Mr. Owl was there.  Yes, he's there, (center, bottom) but .wait ... there is a mate, Owl #2   I tried numerous  photos, but could not get them in the same one.  She's there, above #1, -- you can only guess if you are seeing her in the center, above #1 -- looking exactly like the pine tree bark.  This is most likely a mated pair.  Happy Day!!!

  1. Elaine, I've never heard of owlickens, but enjoyed seeing the picture of the owl AND the clean fabric drawers. I have such a difficult time getting rid of fabric.

  2. How fun to watch the owls. They are fascinating. I spent most of my day cleaning and organizing fabric and wool. Looks so good now.

  6. Very nice stash pictures. Unfortunately, I don't think I saw Mrs. Owl. How nice to have them. I need to be more aware - maybe there is one nearby?

  7. ha-ha! We have the jackalopes out here, but the owlickens are new to me. I sort of guessed at #1 and #2 --by color. How fun to have them in your tree. Your stash is looking good. Wouldn't it be nice to have an elf to keep things straight in the quilting room?

  13. Great job straightening up your fabric. I've been spiffing up my studio since the beginning of the year. Feel free to drop by on Wednesday to see where the next clean up area is. Slow but steady is working for me. Love your owl picture. Really? There are two there?

  14. Hey there! I'm so glad you're still blogging. I visit once in awhile and came today to revisit your RW&B Star Struck quilt. Lovely! Would you mind if I made one similar as a "Quilt of Valor"?

  15. I like your nice, neat drawers, your storage drawers, not the others! LOL! It feels so good to get things organized and ready to use or ready to donate. Glad hubby was not badly hurt in his fall on the stairs.
