Danged changes!

Uh oh - something has changed and I am not receiving comments on my e-mail, therefore I cannot respond to wonderful omments that kind viewers have sent me.

I have no idea what needs to be done to rectify this situation.  Even managing my Blog is a miracle in itself - no way can I understand all the "Happy Day news for Bloggers" instructions from Blogger on what all this is about.

  1. It's happening to all of us, so don't worry. Misery loves company and all that. I have heard that if you write a comment on the post and click on the "email followup comments" box, you will get to see the messages. I don't think you get the email addresses so you can't write back, but at least you can see the message.

  2. Yep! It began a couple of weeks ago. And Shasta is right--the workaround provides the messages but no way to reply.

  3. Here's the reason WHY it has changed -- GDPR is a new set of stringent international regulations that have caused great upheaval in the online world - mostly having to do with the sharing of personal information like email addresses (hence the issue with Blogger sharing our emails with the owners of blogs where we comment).

If you type GDPR in one of the search engines, I’m sure you’ll find out more than you want to know!

The link hosts have all changed their policies and I know for the one used by RSC we must click a box each time we post allowing the link up to share our email with the host (Angela). If we don’t click the box, we can’t link in.

I’m not sure why Blogger/Google wasn’t ready for the blog-related aspects of the issue as it was known about well ahead of time - but I also realize there are 1,000s of blogs (or more) with a lot of behind the scenes issues we never see that had to be worked out/around/under/through/etc.

Which is why I am NOT a programmer!

  4. Yep.... drives me crazy to a) not get an email copay of comments and b) not being easy to respond. However, if you click on the commenter's name you will be taken to their personal page on blogger. On the left is a link to email them. Voila. Copy and paste the address in your email and boom. You can write back. Actually on my Mac it opens a window in my mail program. (That's why I copy and paste as I use a Gmail account for the blog.) I tend to copy the message and put it at the end of my comment to make it easier for the receiver to know what I'm talking about. Enjoy. B.
