Again, you've seen this kaleidoscope quilt but it's all quilted and full of texture. I LOVE it and it's intended as a gift.
Both of these quilts were made from stash. I DID purchase batting.
I am a quilter - a retired widow living in the Nebraska Panhandle. I am surrounded by beautiful semi-arid ranch country, and treeless hills and fields under incredibly wide blue skies, located far from the upheaval found often in large towns or cities. I am blessed to have delicious time to quilt and to appreciate my peaceful moments in an unpeaceful world.

Two finishes, QOV Rebuilt Log Cabin, and Kaleidoscope
I've shown this Rebuilt Log Cabin in process, but it's DONE -- DONE -- DONE! This is the quilt that I had quilted the borders in an overall leafy viney pattern and the result was awful! The organic thing didn't "go" with the patriotic style, and was too eye-catching. So I took out all the border quilting - not as hard as it sounds as my tension was terrible on the back, very loose, making it less difficult to remove. I redid quilting between the borders as plain Stitch-in-the-Ditch, a vast improvement. Next is a short wash to eliminate holes from previous stitches.

Homely Quilt, a re-built Log Cabin
Yeahhh - it's done! It turned out so much better than it looked when only a quilt top! Quilting DOES make the quilt. This starts out as a traditionial Log Cabin, but with some manipulation, I call it a ReBuilt Log Cabin. Look at that unexpected zig-zag effect. On the lower photo, you'll see the bunch of nearly ugly fabrics that were used. The sandwiching was done last Sunday, and it was finished Friday night. The border, (Jewel Box, or Buckeye Beauty blocks) works well as a border, but I'm not sure it 'goes' with this quilt. However, the entire project is quirky enough to be OK.
