OK, I lied on a previous post, claiming the photo would be the last one on this Sizzling Strips quilt. Do you remember as a little girl of 6 or 7, and getting mad at your little playmate, hollering "I don't like you anymore!", and stomping away, with your nose in the air? So, before I get to that stage of stamping my foot and walking away, I'd better finish this project, since a LOT of you have seen it and I'd be too embarrassed to turn it into a UFO.
Here is definitely my latest and greatest and LASTEST version! Some of the blocks need a different/darker color instead of the red, but this is the idea. I'll have to do some unsewing or else make a bunch more blocks, replacing the red with a darker plum or similar. I like the shaft of light and wish it was original, but it's not, and so I'm whining and crabbing at my own lack of originality, and weariness after changing my mind so many times. I'm going to add an inner border, and another border, yet to be determined.
If you tackle this quilt design, be prepared for the multitude of options when it comes to layout.
Any arrangement you come up with can't go wrong for making an interesting quilt.
ReplyDeleteI like this arrangement. I also agree with Nellie. Any arrangement will work and you might never be really satisfied so you will have to just settle for good enough. I like the light dark values and the placement. Just my two cents.
ReplyDeleteI agree. This is a nice setting. The shaft of light is very nice. It's a keeper. Finish it off and get on with life! LOL
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite one so far. Once the borders get on there you will feel it is complete.
ReplyDeleteI hate to be a 'fence sitter' but I love these blocks, and have liked every setting you have photographed. Just put it together, and don't think about it anymore. It is going to make a lovely quilt.

I really like the streak of light down the center. I wish I understood value and had enough patience to do one with this type of shading.....some day, some day.
ReplyDeleteI like this setting a lot - but then, I've liked most of the previous ones also!
ReplyDeleteI love the shaft of light. I think planning the setting and changing things around is the most fun part of quilting. That's why i love my design wall so much. Everyone who visits gets a chance to try arrangements too. Sometimes that's how I get my best arrangements.
ReplyDeleteI like this setting and the shaft of light! I like the fabric you have chosen. I think you will be pleased once it done.
ReplyDeleteFor what it is worth, this is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful! It's really terrific! And I know you'll like it even more when it's done. Good job.
ReplyDeleteThe best one yet. This layout has a good 3D effect from the placement and colors, and is visually interesting You see? Sometimes it just takes a while to get there.
ReplyDeleteI like this setting also - I don't think there is a bad layout with this design!! Thanks for visiting my blog, have fun sewing this one together!!
