Oops!

Still no computer - wahhhhhh -- I complained to my 'techie' that I was getting a teensy bit impatient. Unfortunately the poor guy was somehow 'attacked' by a fence stretcher (remember, there are a LOT of ranches and farms in western Nebraska) suffered a head injury and spent the last week in the hospital. Now, I am embarrassed for my pitiful lack of patience.
I really have no idea of the mechanics of a 'fence stretcher' but I know they involve tension and danger. The below photo is just one kind of a fence stretcher.

  1. Yikes! Ouch! (from a farm gal in Illinois who hasn't needed a fence stretcher since we sold the cattle and horses.)

You do still need your computer though...!! Hang in there!

  2. I grew up using the wire stretchers in your photos. They came in handy opening tight gates, and you are right, they can be dangerous.

  3. Good lord, I grew up around these, too. They're no joke! I just watched from afar as my Dad and the guys worked on the fence.

Well, you know I'm thinking of you always. I'm not forgetting about you. I'm missing you actually.

  4. I never thought about them being dangerous. My brother and I put up the fence for our goats when I was about 12 and he was 22. It was a 5 acre area! I guess I just didn't know enough to worry about it. LOL

  7. I have wondered what you were up to. If you are ever in the market for a new computer, you should consider getting an Apple. They are great! We've had one for a couple years and would never go back.

  8. Owie, owie!!! Makes my skin crawl. Hope he's healing.
I remember dad making us stand way back while he stretched the wire and got the first couple staples into the fenceposts. Brings back memories. Good luck on the computer repair.
