That hard-to-remember FLOAT calculation

My first calculation resulted in a "float" of about 3.5 inches ... uhh, doesn't sound right.  Oh great, a slight error when mixing my lengths and widths, having the mess all crumpled up on a too-small work area.  LOL  But even realizing the error, I sure like looking.

I wonder if my powers of concentration will ever return?

  1. I can never calculate borders in advance. I have to sew the pieced border and then see how big the gap is. Whatever the size of your stop border, this quilt is fabulous already. Take care. ;^)

  2. Oh my, I just love how pineapples dance and swirl, and this one grabs my eye and takes me for a spin.

  4. That border is a wonderful finish for this quilt! Did you figure out the float measurement? I know I have the formula somewhere in a notebook. If you need it, let me know and I will hunt it down for you.

  6. Yes, I figured out the "float" after realizing I had been careless with calculations and measurements. Hope I remember this lesson for the next time!

  7. I know I could never do any calculations! I'm too bad with numbers! That quilt of yours looks like it will be a beauty no matter how you put on the borders! I love it!
