I am a quilter - a retired widow living in the Nebraska Panhandle. I am surrounded by beautiful semi-arid ranch country, and treeless hills and fields under incredibly wide blue skies, located far from the upheaval found often in large towns or cities. I am blessed to have delicious time to quilt and to appreciate my peaceful moments in an unpeaceful world.

Little Stars
In prep for a Quilt Guild class Saturday, I pulled out scraps - we are instructed to bring light and dark scraps, to make Wonky Stars. So, hoping to be practiced and prepared, I made a few of this version of Wonky Stars (thanks to Bonnie at Quiltville.com - directions on her site). Hey, they're like potato chips - can't stop! These finish at 6 inches - our class blocks are larger. I'm not sure what to use them for -- maybe a border? or a row in a Row x Row?
Note there is no effort at perfect points, or perfect triangles. Even better, the points do not extend to the side seam allowances! Yeahhhhh.
The fabrics are left after completing my DD Mystery Quilt top.

I'm going to try some of these stars: I really like them.
ReplyDeleteI love doing those wonky stars! I just heard that Bonnie Hunter is going to be having a workshop near here in April. I'm going to try to go to it if I can.
ReplyDeleteThose do look fun. Wouldn't they be fabulous on the back of quilt when you have to two use different fabrics. (I am even busting stash for backs this year)
ReplyDeleteElaine, have you heard about the Bushfire Quilt Project? They are using wonky stars. Here's the link

Wonky stars are the best...
ReplyDeleteI love the wonkey stars. My mom and I made a throw last fall. fun! A guild class sounds like fun. Get that DD sandwiched:)
ReplyDeleteLove your wonky stars! Aren't they fun to make? A real no-stress project. They'd be great in a border, or a Row X Row. I made some for the Bushfire Quilt Project and now want to make some just for me!
ReplyDeleteI keep wanting to try Wonky Stars! Yours look so nice - I feel inspired! :)
ReplyDeleteThey are so cute! Love your wonky stars!
ReplyDeleteThey look great Elaine, maybe you could put them between your rows of class stars?
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, wonky stars! I bet you could just play with those all day! So cute! Love your luggage tags too. Neat gift!
ReplyDeleteReally liking those stars. Can't wait to see the wonky ones. And I also just got the Terry Hooked on Feathers. I haven't tried on a quilt yet...but used feathers on a quilt this last weekend. It turned out quite a bit better than I thought.
ReplyDeleteAren't these stars so much fun to make?! LOve your stars!
ReplyDeleteThose stars shine so brightly..when they fall into a project will glow. sew peacefully DEB}:o
ReplyDeleteYour stars are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love those luggage tags too! What a nice gift they will make. I have an anticard policy now, they cost so much, & usually get thrown out, but something like that, is such a nice idea.
I've been MIA for so very long, Elaine, that it feels really wierd to be commenting here---but I wanted you to know that I do appreciate your sweet comment about my Badger baby. My heart is broken, of course. I LOVE those stars!!! Maybe I will eventually get back to piecing and quilting now that my sweet boy doesn't require so much attention. Again, thanks so much for thinking of me.
