I just ran out of quilting thread - dang it!
Does someone have a table for estimating how much quilting thread is needed for various size quilts, when quilting light, moderate or heavy?
(One gal I know, who quilts for show competition, put 30,000 yds in one quilt! OMGosh!)
I am a quilter - a retired widow living in the Nebraska Panhandle. I am surrounded by beautiful semi-arid ranch country, and treeless hills and fields under incredibly wide blue skies, located far from the upheaval found often in large towns or cities. I am blessed to have delicious time to quilt and to appreciate my peaceful moments in an unpeaceful world.
I think there are too many variables! Imagine having to estimate the amount of thread that will be un-sewn! LOL! On my quilts that can be quite a lot.
ReplyDeleteYour quilting looks wonderful. I am so impressed. Lovely work.
ReplyDeleteYou are always one foot short at the end of the quilt!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I feel that the thread is the most expensive part of a quilt, esp if it's a scrap quilt.
ReplyDeleteI remember reading about that very subject on the Superior Threads blog a few months ago. NAYY.

Hope that helps.

From Elaine Adair -- thanks Michele - that is exactly what I was looking for!
ReplyDeleteNow, the next thing we need is a little guage on the spool to indicate the approximate amount left! 8-)
roflo will not work Elaine... I have a little red light that starts to flash when I have only 3 yards left on the bobbin.
ReplyDeleteyes you guess it....... I always run out in the middle of a row.
