Oh great - I updated Blogger and it took me 4 tries to get this photo to appear.
Anyway, here is my Buckeye Beauty/aka/Blue Ridge Beauty variation/ as well as various other names. I'm loving the border. One more side to sew on. Maybe I can get it sandwiched this weekend. 8-)))
My plaids and shirt plaids are still waaaay out of control!
I am a quilter - a retired widow living in the Nebraska Panhandle. I am surrounded by beautiful semi-arid ranch country, and treeless hills and fields under incredibly wide blue skies, located far from the upheaval found often in large towns or cities. I am blessed to have delicious time to quilt and to appreciate my peaceful moments in an unpeaceful world.
The more I see of this quilt, the more I like it! :) Great border in my opinion!
ReplyDeleteI love that border on your quilt too. It just looks "right".
ReplyDeleteGreat border! I love plaids and homespuns and this design is a perfect way to show them off.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! That's just coming along fantastic. I love that border!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI do like that border with your quilt. I am sure everyone can relate to "out of control" boxes of fabric. I never seem to make a dent even when I make large quilts. (Guess I don't make enough large quilts.)
ReplyDeleteThose string blocks really finish off this quilt! Awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteThe string border is perfect :0)
ReplyDeleteLove it, Elaine!
ReplyDeleteThe border is just awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, a great choice of border for this quilt--I took your wisdom of equal light/dark being an issue with a current project and it is turning out better than it was looking for a while.
ReplyDeleteThe border is fabulous. But is it all bias or did you do a muslin backing?
ReplyDeleteI love the border too! Another winner Elaine!
ReplyDeleteOH! I just LOVE how this has turned out! You have such a good eye. I think you should send a picture of this quilt to Bonnie Hunter. She is such a scrap/shirting fan. She would immediately put this on her Bucket List!
ReplyDeleteWow Wee.....I LOVE that border!!
ReplyDeleteThe main part of the quilt is wonderful on its own, but the border - WOW! - totally love it.
ReplyDeleteAs always, your border detail makes the quilt! It is beautiful. Excuse me if I copy your idea someday...
ReplyDeleteOh I LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteYou've done it again, Elaine---made another spectacular beauty! I love the plaids, and the strip-pieced border really is the icing on the cake. Excellent!
ReplyDeleteI am SOOOOO glad to see this photo!!! I have a jewel box in 1930's that I put together with swap blocks a couple years back but ended up needing more blocks to make it bigger plus researched and looked all over webshots and flicker for border ideas... not liking anything I saw....
ReplyDeletewell now I know exactly what I'm gonna do!!! and the best part - I also have swap blocks of 1930's strings!!!! :D I'm a very happy girl now - thanks for the inspiration!
Love from Texas! ~bonnie
LOVE< LOVE love the string border, inspired!
ReplyDeleteI love your buckeye beauty! I have a big stash of homespuns and have been looking for a good pattern. Did you use muslin for the white part?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I was having the same problem with comments. When you do your email and password with google, leave the little box under the password unchecked. It says something like 'save password'. That worked for me
