Ready for Quilting!

I'm lovin' it! Next is the quilting, then I will bind it in that dark green. My inside corners are fixed, with some fiddling and hand sewing. Whew - THAT issue was a learning experience!

It's laying on batting -- I can baste it in the house. It's about 58 x 58 inches.

Oh my, how will I ever cut into it, for the slit and the tree hole? Yikes!

  7. Hi Elaine,
Think about using it as a Christmas table topper instead as a Tree Skirt. It is wonderful as it is.

  8. Don't cut a slit only put a hole in the center..then you can use it for a table topper later.. Love it..log cabin blocks are about HOME> Lay a circle of fabric in the center, sew a circle..cut the center out and turn the facing to the inside and baste down.make sure to clip the curve close. All you have to do is remember to put the tree skirt on the stand before you set up the tree> Make a note and tape to the tree box as a reminder. Measure the diameter of your tree trunk>for size of the circle. 2 1/2 " diameter might be enough>? hugs Happy Holidays. Deb>FLO}:o

  9. Your Christmas tree skirt is beautiful. What a great piecing job you achieved. I am glad you had such a good and productive retreat. Aren't retreats wonderful? So much fun and friendship goes on at retreats.

  10. O.k. Elaine, another beaut! I wasn't sure what you meant when you talked about the solid outer strips but now that I see it I love it too!

Flo is right, just cut the center hole and the skirt will just have to be put on the stand before the tree gets set in (and a blanket or sheet laid over it will keep the needles off of it until the tree is in place).

    Great job!

  12. It is beautiful! I love your solution of solid strips on some of the outside and HST sawtooth on the others - really did solve the inside corner problems.

I'd be super nervous to cut into this! Crossing my fingers for you! ...or you'll have a lovely table topper ;o)
