Friday, I dashed home after work, full of energy and inspiration, and dove into sewing Pineapple Blocks - little ones - these finish at 6 inches. Paper had not been removed in this photo. What will I do with them? LOL It took me about 40 minutes per block, and after doing 5, (with breaks between) I cleaned up the mess on the floor, then started again on Saturday, then ..., and by Sunday I had 15. Once again, it's just left-over strips. Of course, there is no diminishing of stash amount that I can tell. Guess I'll keep working on more. The turquoise blue perks up the sedate fabrics.
I had gotten bored with machine quilting on this red/white/black quilt and needed a break. But, here is an example of one area I quilted, with a scroll-y design.
I am a quilter - a retired widow living in the Nebraska Panhandle. I am surrounded by beautiful semi-arid ranch country, and treeless hills and fields under incredibly wide blue skies, located far from the upheaval found often in large towns or cities. I am blessed to have delicious time to quilt and to appreciate my peaceful moments in an unpeaceful world.

Your pineapple blocks are gorgeous! I really like that they are so small, they'll make a beautiful finished project :)
ReplyDeleteLove your pineapple blocks. I intend to make a pineapple quilt someday...may have to live to 120 to get it done though. LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat-looking blocks. Continue making them and you will start to see that stash pile diminish.
ReplyDeleteThe swirly blocks are great! is the thread gray??
ReplyDeleteYou have made a lot of progress on the pineapple blocks. They are going to look good all sewn together.
ReplyDeleteOH. My. GOODNESS! This is the one block that I am dying to do but have just been too afraid of the time it takes, ect. Perhaps you'll spur me on!
ReplyDeleteNice, Elaine. I'm working on a stash-buster too, and from the small size of a dent that it made in my stash, realize that life is going to be way too short --- unless I can get a maid, cook, houseboy, chauffeur, AND a personal shopper. Probably need more energy too... then might make a bigger dent???
ReplyDeleteThose 6 inch pineapple blocks are great, but so small. I have been making crumb blocks and I agree, my scrap collection has not gone down much that I can see. I eliminated a bag or two of donated scraps, but there are a lot more left! Help!
ReplyDeleteLovely! gorgeous! May I say...you are just the most amazing quilter!!
ReplyDeleteThe pineapple blocks are looking so good together. It is a good way to use scraps from the year. I need to try this one. The quilting on the red/white/black quilt is awesome.
ReplyDeleteHugs - Ivani
